R7 Employee Spotlight Brittany Sipes

Brittany is a Specialist at EcoLand and has been in education for 9 years.

"Teaching runs deep in my family’s veins. My mom dedicated her career to shaping young minds as a 2nd-grade teacher at Pine Tree and Kilgore, while my dad inspired high school students and coached golf at Spring Hill. My sister imparts knowledge to 1st graders in Nashville, and both of my aunts are passionate educators as well. Our collective love for nurturing children's growth and development is the cornerstone of our family's values. Nine years ago, I embarked on my own teaching journey as a kindergarten teacher at Spring Hill. I initially believed that my future lay in the kindergarten classroom, where I annually introduced my students to the wonders of Region 7's EcoLand. This experience ignited a profound passion within me for this unique educational setting. To my astonishment, an opportunity arose for a specialist position at EcoLand—a chance I never anticipated. Embracing this unexpected opportunity, I applied, interviewed, and was thrilled to be selected for the role. While I once thought my calling was to teach kindergarten, this new position allows me to extend my impact beyond 20 students a year to thousands across Region 7. I am profoundly grateful and excited to be part of such a remarkable institution. This role represents not just a career milestone but a fulfilling journey where I can make a difference on a larger scale."

Carl Mohn name divider

R7 Employee Spotlight Carl Mohn

Carl is a Specialist in the Digital Learning Department and has been in education for 13 years.

"I got into education to change the world! I believe education can truly be the game-changer! Everyone is born a learner and is curious about the world around them. Education helps open the world to learners, exposing them to ideas they might never find on their own. The advances in technology have created a world where formal education can take place anywhere (and anytime)! I came to Region 7 to make good on the opportunity to expose more teachers and students to the universal access to education that every learner can have. We owe it to our teachers to help them develop as learners so they can pass the passion of learning on to their students."
