Teacher Preparation & Certification Program (TPCP)

Are you looking for a challenging, rewarding life-changing career? Do you have a passion for teaching?  Whether changing careers, returning to the work force, or just beginning your first job search, the Region 7 Teacher Preparation & Certification Program can be your path to the future. 

We provide a blend of face-to-face and online coursework to our participants. Our face-to-face courses are one Saturday a month (Sept.-May) and up to 16 days in June and/or July.



Open Enrollment

To enroll into Region 7 Teacher Certification Program you must be clear of criminal background, have a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, meet the GPA requirement of 2.5 overall (GPA total of all college transcripts) or GPA of 2.75 in the last 60 hours of coursework of degree and pass the PACT/Content test. Candidates with a degree from a foreign institution, please read FAQ's below.

A non-refundable fee of $100.00 is required with this application. You may pay by check, money order or online: 

TPCP Applicant Information


As a service, TEA will provide a Preliminary Criminal History Evaluation for a non-refundable fee. 

You are eligible to request a Preliminary Criminal History Evaluation if:

  • You enrolled or planning to enroll in an educator preparation program or
  • You are planning to take a certification exam for initial educator certification, and
  • You have reason to believe that you may be ineligible for educator certification due to a conviction or deferred adjudication for a felony or misdemeanor offense.

You are not eligible for a preliminary evaluation of your criminal history if you do not have a conviction or deferred adjudication for a felony or misdemeanor offense.

T-CERT TExES Certification Exam Review for Teachers


Register for PACT (TExES ) Exam:


If you hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university or are in your last semester and scheduled to receive a bachelor’s degree, you are allowed to take a content test for purposes of admission into the alternative certification program. To determine specific test-date availability, you will need to create an account and be logged into your account.

Candidates are limited to five attempts to take a certification test. The five attempts include the first attempt to pass the examination and four retakes. All attempts taken before September 1, 2015 count as one attempt. Please click on link for additional information: Educator Testing Service
