R7 Employee Spotlight

Region 7 ESC Employee Spotlight

At Region 7 ESC, we're proud to shine a light on the incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to making a difference in education. Our biweekly Employee Spotlight highlights team members whose passion and commitment help shape the future of our students. Through their hard work and expertise, they support both teachers and students across the region. This week, we're excited to introduce three standout employees who exemplify what it means to lead with heart.

Leila Brown

R7 Employee Spotlight Leila Brown

Leila works in the Technology Services Department and has been in education for 4 years, plus several years as a volunteer.

"After raising two children and actively volunteering throughout their school years, I decided to re-enter the workforce. Returning after an extended gap was challenging, but a position opened with Head Start at Region 7, and Cathy Gaskin generously gave me the opportunity. Working at Region 7 has been incredibly rewarding—I’ve witnessed firsthand the positive impact our ESC has at all our districts. It’s truly fulfilling to contribute to an organization that makes such a meaningful difference in our region."

Whitney Sherman

R7 Employee Spotlight Whitney Sherman

Whitney works in the Special Education Department and has been in education for 14 years.

"Growing up with a cousin with autism, I witnessed firsthand the joys and challenges involved in caring for and educating someone on the spectrum. After getting involved in special needs camps in Tyler, I found a love for teaching individuals with different needs the skills they needed to be independent, successful, and happy. Throughout my career, I have devoted my time to this mission in clinical, church, and recreational activities. I came to Region 7 ESC in August of 2022 in hopes of encouraging and supporting educators in changing the lives of their students with disabilities and helping them reach their maximum potential."

Stacy Morris

R7 Employee Spotlight Stacy Morris

Stacy works in the Center for Effective Schools Department and has been in education for 30 years.

"Teaching is my true passion. With every step in my career, my classroom has expanded, reaching more and more people. That's why I love working at Region 7—it's given me the largest classroom yet. The opportunity to develop current and future leaders creates a ripple effect that goes far beyond anything I could have dreamed of 30 years ago. It's humbling and fulfilling to know my work is shaping a legacy of leadership that will impact countless lives."
