Region 7 ESC Employee Spotlight
At Region 7 ESC, we're proud to shine a light on the incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to making a difference in education. Our biweekly Employee Spotlight highlights team members whose passion and commitment help shape the future of our students. Through their hard work and expertise, they support both teachers and students across the region. This week, we're excited to introduce three standout employees who exemplify what it means to lead with heart.
Stephanie works in the Center for Effective Schools Department and has been in education for 29 years.
"I come from a long line of educators, and being a teacher just seemed to be an easy choice. I have taught or been a campus administrator at all levels – elementary, jr. high, and high school. I even taught for a year at the college level and supervised graduate students. Supporting others and enabling them to be successful is why I got into education. Coming to Region 7 has allowed me to do that in an even bigger role! When I first started here, I was very intimidated because, as a young teacher, Region 7 was where it all happened! I did not consider myself one of “those” educators, but everyone has been so supportive and encouraging. I love what I do, and working here at the service center is the best!!"
Margaret works in the State & Federal Programs Department and has been in education for 2.5 years.
"I came to Region 7 right after Covid when I was new to the East Texas area. This just felt right. I knew this was where I was supposed to be. I am new to the education world, and it is amazing how Region 7 represents the East Texas area. I really enjoy the people I work with and admire them for what they are bringing to teachers, administrators, and students every day. I appreciate supporting and serving our participants. I learn something new almost daily. I am very proud to be an employee here at Region 7."
Sherry works in the Curriculum Services Department and has been in education for 41 years.
"I first entered education as an Athletic Trainer when the job market primarily centered around high schools. At the time, I taught math while also serving as an athletic trainer. I’ve stayed in education because I realized that every child has the ability to open a gift—though they may do so in their own way and at their own pace. My goal is to help teachers see that education is a gift we provide to students and allowing each student to unwrap it at different times, rates, and through different methods is an art teachers can master. My drive comes from helping educators be their best so they can, in turn, make a lasting impact on our children."
