Dyslexia Day
Dyslexia Day 2024 • October 2-3
October has been designated as Dyslexia Awareness Month. Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that affects an individual’s ability to accurately read, spell, and decode that affects an estimated 20% of the population. The Region 7 Education Service Center will hold a Dyslexia Awareness Day specifically for students with dyslexia to help them embrace their learning difference. During this day, students select sessions to attend based on their interests. The activities will involve critical thinking, computer applications, math strategies, comprehension, creative thinking, and movement. The students will be provided lunch, dessert, door prizes, and a day all about helping them appreciate their learning difference.
This year will be the Third Annual Awareness Day, and we want it to continue to be an event that students from the 101 school districts that we serve look forward to each year. Below is a comment about last year’s event.
