Head Start Overview

60 Years of Head Start
Welcome to Region 7 Head Start!

Region 7 Education Service Center Head Start and Early Head Start is a 14-county program, funded for 2,255 children. Head Start encompasses Head Start preschool programs, which serve 3- and 4-year-old children, and Early Head Start programs for infants, toddlers, and pregnant mothers.

The target population includes, but is not limited to, income eligible teen parents, foster and homeless children and families, limited English speaking families, and children with disabilities.

Head Start programs prepare America’s most vulnerable young children to become school ready. To achieve this, Head Start programs deliver comprehensive services to children and families in the core areas of Early Learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners.
