School Board Training
The 80th session of the Texas Legislature established a "required course of training" for all school board members. The purpose of this requirement is to prepare board members and the superintendent to work as a leadership team.
Region 7 School Board Training Services will:
» Provide all levels and types of school board training upon request of school district
» Maintain records of school board training issued by Region 7 ESC personnel
» Be committed to providing programs for all districts to help achieve the district's leadership team goals
» Maintain its state-approved sponsor status and will issue credit for training facilitated through the ESC.

School Board Training Requirements
Continuing education requirements for independent school board trustees are established in Texas Administrative Code §61.1 and Texas Government Code, §§ 551.005, 552.012, and 2054.5191. This table provides a summary of these requirements.
